Outta town!

Fun weekend in Tallahassee, despite the outcome of our game. Rather infuriating these past 2 weeks with our Noles! Katey had a blast in her first jacuzzi tub experience.....at one point she yelled, "this is the life!" Yes, it is!! The game was cold and frustrating, but we had a good time with Ginger......the first time in the stands in about 20 years......boy, have we been spoiled!!! It was fun! Glad to be home!!!

Happy Halloween!

We had a fun Halloween night with the cousins in Sarasota. The weather was decent and the neighborhood quite generous with the chocolate.......no wonder we saw people sneaking in the gate to trick-or-treat! Katey and I made her Katara costume (Avatar:The Last Airbender if you didn't know) and she just loved it........looked like the real thing if I say so myself! She especially liked "water bending"........I know it was a boa........use your imagination people!!! ;) Over for another year......gotta get the Switch Witch's candy out so she can pick it up tonight and get it OUT of my sight!!!!

"Princess Sleepy" and other random shots

Had to laugh. Bought this mask for myself (Target $1 bin) and it was too small for my head.....gave my migraine a migraine.....so Katey said she wanted it. She actually used it and it was a photo op too good to pass up. She is really sound asleep in this picture :) Other photos of her playdate with "bestest friend" Abby, one (chilly-64!) morning before school, AND the loss of tooth #4. So far, October is looking good!!!

Birthday fun!

Well, now that is all over, the normal stress I put upon myself leading up to the big day(s) is of course, worth it. I guess if I didn't try to out do myself with a different cake each year, I might be able to relieve some of the stress, but now it's expected of me and I cannot let my people down! :) This cake turned out totally different from our original vision, but it was adorable and well received by my peeps. But, let's back up a bit.........Monday night Katey and I made the circles for the cake, which were stored in the oven to harden. Tuesday night Katey pulled her 3rd tooth out, which was almost as exciting as all of the birthday anticipation! Wednesday, we made the cake......almost burning the circles for it with the preheating of the oven (forgot they were in there!!!).........saved in the nick of time! As usual, I bought a monster balloon for Katey, but this one was such a monster that it set off the motion detector on our alarm system which, at 11:35 Wednesday night (birthday eve) erupted in the "all hell is breaking loose, alert the neighbors, media, police" blasting NOISE that has my heart still beating! Once I made sure the house was indeed secure and the only culprit was the d*** balloon, Katey and I tried to go back to sleep. We tossed and turned for hours.........me, with the pounding heart, and Katey with total excitement that it was her birthday........finally, at 5am, we were up for good........yawn. Katey had a wonderful day! She loved her presents, had a special day at school, got her traditional mani-pedi and then a yummy sushi dinner. I can't believe she was perky after getting up early, but she was still bouncing off the walls when we got home..........I was dragging by 10am so you can imagine my day! Friday, I was up at 5am again to put the cake all together. After school, we headed down to Sarasota for another "Katey" celebration with the family. We had pizza and cake/ice cream and another round of great gifts. Katey is thrilled to be 7, and while I was just getting used to having a 6 year old and will miss her, I look forward to another fun-filled, action-packed year with Katey the 7 year old! Happy Year Ahead!!!!

It's Party Time!

The countdown to 7 began today with a party at Build-a-Bear. Katey invited 4 friends and they had a ball! Can't believe I'm going to have a 7 year old in 5 days!!!

1st Grade!

Even the rain couldn't wash away the excitement of Katey's first day of 1st Grade. She was so excited.........I'm not sure, but I think she's been up since about 4am.......finger's crossed for sound asleep at 7:30!! :) We couldn't take a lot of photos because it's hard juggling a monster umbrella, school supplies and a camera, but we got a few. Katey was thrilled with her new messenger bag which is almost as big as she is. We are, just like last year, SO excited because Katey's teacher is an FSU graduate. If we get Mrs. Smith back again next year (she's teaching 2nd grade now), it'll be a trifecta. I picked Katey up at Academic Aftercare and she was beaming.....she had a wonderful day!!! Here's to another great year!!!!

I miss my child!!

VBS in Sarasota this week. Katey is staying at my Mom's and having a great time! I took her down on Sunday and will be picking her up Friday morning. This house is so quiet and I miss that little girl so badly!!! Can't wait to see her on Friday!! In the meantime, I've gutted her room (she probably won't miss a thing since it was so overloaded with c-r-a-p!!) I've also gotten half of my room painted, with the other half to be done tonight.........have a feeling I might have to do another coat tomorrow. Keeping busy........that's the key to my loneliness. Friday........hurry, hurry, hurry! :) (picture courtesy of my sister Ginny.........cousin Maggie on K's left)

Jinx!

I swear I am a jinx! Every time we go to a Rays game, we lose! I guess I should stay away to give them a chance to win the division. It was fun though.......Retro night......The Village People played after the game. We didn't stay for that since a certain 6 3/4 year old got cranky at about 9:30 (heck, I was getting cranky too!) but we had a good time. Go Rays......I'll just watch on TV!!!

Camp...

Summer is almost over......two more weeks! Katey's delightful and very fun Camp Bayshore ended yesterday. She still has gymnastics camp next week and then VBS in Sarasota (with 4 days away from me....she's thrilled!) but she spent the majority of the summer here. Katey's already talking about going again next year......lots of fun, lots of great field trips and major peace of mind for Mom leaving her in such good hands every day.

Cue Alice Cooper........

.....School's out for summer! Wahooooooooooo! Too bad Mom isn't off of work for summer too......I need it!!!!! Well, I'll suffer through.......not like I have a choice, of course. :) Have had a nice weekend.....took Friday off and Katey and I got pedicures and did fun girlie stuff. Had a mini reunion with some of my sorority sisters over the weekend.....Katey came with me for part of it and was the hit of the day :) I think she's such an awesome child, but to hear everyone else telling me how cute and smart she is, further validates what we already know. Camp starts tomorrow.......let summertime begin!

At long last, the recital!

Finally, finally, finally......the recital! Katey was thrilled that Gam, Aunt Ginny, Susan and Greg were coming to see her perform. It was a loooooooooooooooong program and Katey's dance wasn't until after intermission, but we all hunkered down and enjoyed the show......wasn't as dreadful as I had anticipated......actually, not bad at all. Katey was great.......she is so graceful and it was a joy to watch her. Afterwards she was (beyond) thrilled to receive roses and a dance trophy! When she came in to wake me up this morning, the first thing she said was "I love my trophy.....I never got one before!" A hit ;) 4 more days of school and then we gear up for summer.....but, after last night, one less hurdle before the finish line!!!
