Vacation heaven!

We're back from our wonderful escape to Cape Cod! Katey LOVED the airplane and I felt a little less tense (just a little though!) feeding off her excitement. We spent most of the week at my Aunt Sid and Uncle Beau's house and stayed in their awesome barn/loft. Papa and Pam came down, as well as my cousin Tina and two of her three girls, Bridget and Meredith. Katey had so much fun with her cousins....they ran around and just had a blast. We saw hermit crabs, toasted marshmallows, ate lobster, looked at all the bunnies hopping around the yard, and lay in the beautiful, soft, green grass. The weather was on the cooler side, but we were fine with that.....I hear it rained here the whole time we were gone. On Wednesday, we headed into Boston for the night, where we went on the infamous Boston Duck Tour, and then off to Tina's for our last night. One of our biggest thrills was seeing the ducklings in Boston Public Gardens. It was like walking into "Make Way for Ducklings," being in the park. In as much as we had a great time, we were ready to come home. A big UGH thinking about work tomorrow, but an awesome trip! Definitely won't wait another 5 years this time!

The Beauty of Being B

Today was the Letter People Parade at school. Each child (secretly) chose their own letter and dressed up accordingly. Katey picked B. For those with the sharper eye, you'll recognize her bee ballet costume from the recital last year. I was all over that.....$55 for an outfit that she wore once? Now it's twice and if I can figure out a third time, I will! :) We added balloons and on the way to school, she realized that she had on a band aid! Totally not planned! SO, she was a beautiful bumblebee ballerina with balloons and a band aid. There were a lot of cute costumes......one of my favorites was Nico, who was "night." Annie's was also creative........she was covered in Kleenex and she was "Achoooooooooo!" One more week of school........wahooooooooo!

Happy Mother's Day

So, my day started at 6:15 (ugh) with Katey running in SO excited that it was Mother's Day! I tried to tell her that every day was Mother's Day to me, but she was having none of it. I got up and opened up all the little handmade gifts from school.....a few keepers in there! ;) Sunday is usually our "get ready for Monday" day, but being Mother's Day, we had to do something out of the norm. We decided that we'd go over to Home Depot (woo woo) and inquire about growing tomatoes. About a hour, and $45 later, we were heading home with everything needed to grow tomatoes.......including gardening gloves for both of us. After lunch, after applying bug spray, sunscreen and floppy hats, we got it all together on the back porch (in desperate need of a pressure washing!) and began our project. I'm not sure, but Katey's favorite part might have been using her fan that squirts water......actually, very refreshing!!! :) We are very hopeful and look forward to grape tomatoes in about 6 weeks.......if all goes well. Not sure what's in store for the rest of the day......besides laundry, cleaning, etc......I think a trip to the pool might be in order. Hope all of you Mothers have a great day!!!

Fun in the Sun

Today we went to the water park at the Y in N. Tampa. Anyone who is from this area knows that we are such snobs in S. Tampa that going North of Kennedy Avenue is considered a big "ick!" BUT, there is an awesome water park up there so we picked up Katey's friend Annie and headed on up this morning. The girls had a great time so it was all worth it. I'm afraid it's going to be a hot summer though.......but, aren't they all?!?!?!

Test, test, 123

I am actually shocked (and a little skeptical) that I was able to get onto the blog. I've been blocked for weeks and have been fighting it tonight for about a half hour. So, I'll keep this short to see if it actually works!

We are great. Two more weeks and we are not only finished at PCUM, but we are heading to Cape Cod for a long overdue vacation. It's been 5 years since we have taken a real vacation, and longer if you don't consider a 2 week jaunt to China a vacation! :)

Let me go find a recent picture of Katey and then try to post this......finger's crossed. Okay, here's one of Katey by the pool (it's still too cold) and one of Katey and her cousins Susan and Maggie on Easter.
More to follow if this works!
