Ride 'em cowboy, year 3

I just can't believe how much Katey has changed these past 3 years. I posted a similar entry last year and here is the most recent......same hat I think! :) Amazing changes.

Crabs....

While going through Katey's, hmmmm, how do I say this?......only one way.......CRAP this morning, I found this picture. She drew it in anticipation of our (probable) trip to Cape Cod this summer. I think it's adorable. In defense of Katey's "crap," it's mostly paper, scraps of paper and many, many drawings, so I'm not really all that upset about her lack of cleaning up ability. At least she's channeling her inner-slob into something worthwhile! :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Katey woke up SO excited that it is Valentine's Day! She got a few treats from me and her Gamma (thanks Gam!) and loved her balloon......she's definitely got a thing for balloons. After breakfast, we picked Greg up and headed out for Fort DeSoto Beach. For those of you who don't know, Ft. DeSoto has been rated one of the best beaches in the US.......maybe the world? Anyway, it's very raw and beautiful out there.......perfect day to fly a kite. Greg, trooper that he is, flew the kite most of the time as Katey played in the sand and water. It was too cold to go into the water (which is why we're in street clothes), but we had fun. On the way home we opened up the windows as we cruised down the interstate. Katey had the best time.......she did scream when papers started flying out of the windows.........we put them up then and opened the sun roof. Greg's taking us to Bonefish for a Valentine Dinner tonight..........yum! Happy Valentine's Day to all!!!

Tomorrow we plan a fun-filled Valentines Day, but until then, it's party time at school!

Again we bounce!

After Katey's bd party in September, we had hoped that more of the parties we went to would be at Pump it Up, since we had so much fun. No such luck. Yesterday, however, our luck changed because Katey's cousin Susan had her 8th bd party at a place called "Bounce U," in Sarasota. Everyone had a great time bouncing, sliding and running around like crazy people. Katey actually had a lot of fun just playing with the balloons, bouncing them off of her head. It was a fun day. Happy Birthday Susan!!!

Coldest day EVER?

Well, at least this year! Of all days for our field trip to the zoo! I'm not sure how cold it actually got overnight, but as we were driving to the zoo (around 9am), it was 36 degrees! Needless to say, the kiddies were bundled up from head to toe........Katey looked like a little snowman, but she was warm! A few of you might recognize the blue/green coat as MINE from when I was a little munchkin. So happy that Mom saved it.......adorable!! Wind chill aside, we had a fun time and saw many of the animals that they had been learning about in class. Katey made a friend at the end of the tour.......it was hard to tear her away. We had a picnic lunch in the sun and while it was warmer, it sure felt good to get back into the car!! By the way, the high today was only 51 so for Tampa, Florida, it was a COLD day!

350

Today was the Gasparilla Children's parade. Katey glammed up in her do-rag, tattoos and pirate shirt and we headed down to the parade with our friends Laurie and Phil and their boys. As usual, we got reserved seating which is so much nicer with all the insane crowds. This year the seats were assigned and we got Row 2 and it turned out to be "the" place to be. Katey and the boys were able to get right down on the ground behind the gate and they were literally pelted with beads. Actually, Katey wasn't as much pelted, as people were spotting her, walking right over and handing her beads. She was SO adorable (yeah, we already know that, right?), waving and yelling that people were making bee-lines over to give her beads. While all of that was happening, we all were in our seats catching beads for her too. By the time we left there, we had 350 strands of beads.........no kidding, we counted! That's not to mention the Frisbee, the football, the stuffed animals (3) and the candy that she got. (I tossed the candy......not from strangers, thank you very much!) At one point, some one pelted a huge strand of big silver beads our way and, while the girl behind me got them, they hit me in the face on the way over my head and knocked the lens out of my sunglasses! They hit me so hard that we couldn't even find the lens.......it must have flown out of the general area. I have wanted new sunglasses for a while, but I didn't want to HAVE to go buy more. Lucky that I did have them on though because I might have lost an eye and been a true pirate, patch and all! ;) The parade lasted for 3 hours and then there were fireworks. We watched those for a while then bolted to beat the traffic and get dinner. Katey didn't get into bed until about 9:20.........exhausted. I'm not too far behind. Great day though.........glad it only comes around once a year!
