Birthday fun!

Well, now that is all over, the normal stress I put upon myself leading up to the big day(s) is of course, worth it. I guess if I didn't try to out do myself with a different cake each year, I might be able to relieve some of the stress, but now it's expected of me and I cannot let my people down! :) This cake turned out totally different from our original vision, but it was adorable and well received by my peeps. But, let's back up a bit.........Monday night Katey and I made the circles for the cake, which were stored in the oven to harden. Tuesday night Katey pulled her 3rd tooth out, which was almost as exciting as all of the birthday anticipation! Wednesday, we made the cake......almost burning the circles for it with the preheating of the oven (forgot they were in there!!!).........saved in the nick of time! As usual, I bought a monster balloon for Katey, but this one was such a monster that it set off the motion detector on our alarm system which, at 11:35 Wednesday night (birthday eve) erupted in the "all hell is breaking loose, alert the neighbors, media, police" blasting NOISE that has my heart still beating! Once I made sure the house was indeed secure and the only culprit was the d*** balloon, Katey and I tried to go back to sleep. We tossed and turned for hours.........me, with the pounding heart, and Katey with total excitement that it was her birthday........finally, at 5am, we were up for good........yawn. Katey had a wonderful day! She loved her presents, had a special day at school, got her traditional mani-pedi and then a yummy sushi dinner. I can't believe she was perky after getting up early, but she was still bouncing off the walls when we got home..........I was dragging by 10am so you can imagine my day! Friday, I was up at 5am again to put the cake all together. After school, we headed down to Sarasota for another "Katey" celebration with the family. We had pizza and cake/ice cream and another round of great gifts. Katey is thrilled to be 7, and while I was just getting used to having a 6 year old and will miss her, I look forward to another fun-filled, action-packed year with Katey the 7 year old! Happy Year Ahead!!!!
