Go Rays! (again)

It was a good day in our household. First, we woke up to the news that the Rays won the AL East.......okay, so they backed into it, but a win is a win.....we're thrilled! Also, our beloved Seminoles won (impressively too!) and Greg's team (USF) is currently winning. Now, if the Bucs can beat Green Bay tomorrow, it will be a sweep. Hope your teams are winners too! GO RAYS!

Grandparent's Day

Today was the Grandparent's Day celebration at Katey's school. It is also my Mom's birthday and we were lucky that she was able to come up from Sarasota to celebrate both! They had a little program and sang some songs.........Katey was having none of it! It was pretty funny because most of the children (as children do) screamed the songs as Katey just sat there in complete indifference. She perked up as soon as we got back to her room and she got to hug her Gamma......it was all positive from that point on. She skipped nap time so as soon as 7:30 hits, so does her head on the pillow! :)

Go Rays!

For those of you not in the Tampa Bay area, our baseball team, The Rays, clinched it's first EVER playoff berth on Saturday. Katey and I watch them every night.......in fact, the first thing Katey asks me when she wakes up in the morning is "did they win?" I decided that we really needed to go to a game. Yesterday was my birthday and I couldn't think of a better way to spend it than to take Katey to a game........so off we went. Sita, Shawn and Anthony went with us.......Greg was in a continuing education class all weekend and couldn't go. :( We did have a great time.......they lost, but it was a fun experience. We got hot dogs and cracker jacks (no kidding!) and even though Katey and Anthony had their b-ball gloves ready, not ONE ball was hit our way. Afterwards we waited in an endless line (we are such AWESOME parents!) so that K & A could run the bases. Unless we get lucky and score some playoff tickets, we'll be back to watching on TV.......GO RAYS!!!!

Another first.........sushi!

I have been so "pictured out" since Katey's birthday, but I finally got something worth sharing. Okay, it's nothing earth shattering, but last night we went and had sushi for (Katey's) the very first time. She likes most of it........LOVED my tuna tataki which I finally had to pull away from her so I could eat a few pieces! Sita and I had to keep "shooshing" them so when they got outside, Anthony and Katey let out screams that I'm sure YOU probably heard. :)

Happy Birthday Katey!!!

Well, the day is just about over. Mom and Greg yawned all through dinner......it's been a long day! Katey had a wonderful birthday! I picked her up early (she loved being a "1:30 kid!") and took her for a special mini-manicure/pedicure. She thought it was the coolest thing! Her fingernails are pink with fish on them (so nice and tacky!) and I told her she could leave them on until Saturday.......certainly not going to church with them! :) Greg and I took her to Bonefish (her choice) for dinner and then we came home and blew out the birthday candles again. The cake, though still adorable, was a teensy bit stale so we ate one obligatory piece and the rest is off to cake heaven (aka: the trash!). It's so much fun having a 5 year old.........I highly recommend it!

Goodbye 4's, Hello 5's!

Katey was so excited as I tucked her into bed last night.........the last time as a 4 year old! Needless to say, she was even more excited when I woke her up this morning! The first thing she said was "PRESENTS!" Our day is just beginning so keep posted 'cause I have surprises coming all day. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY WONDERFUL 5 YEAR OLD GIRL!

The countdown continues......

It's birthday eve and we continued the celebration! Today we went to Chili's to meet Katey's friend Ty and her Mom and sisters for a bd lunch. Ty was unable to attend K's party yesterday so we took her a goodie bag and a bunch of cupcakes and we had a mini celebration. Then, Greg and I decided that since today was windy (post hurricane that we didn't get a drop of rain from, by the way), we would give Katey one of her presents early. The gift was a kite that she had wanted, so we took it out to Davis Islands (a mile away) and flew it for a while. It was a perfect day for kite flying. I can't imagine ever living away from the water........it is so beautiful. We're now in "relax" mode getting ready to gear up for the big day tomorrow. See you then! :)
